Understanding how artificial intelligence is being developed and applied in various areas of society is one of the great challenges of our time. The rapid evolution of these technologies makes it necessary to have rigorous information, verified evidence, and analytical frameworks that help interpret their impact on education, organizations, and society as a whole. To this end, the AI and Diversity Observatory has added three new key publications to its document repository that offer complementary perspectives on the adoption of artificial intelligence: The Implementation of AI in Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean, prepared by UNESCO IESALC; An Overview of Artificial Intelligence in Colombian Higher Education, by ASCUN; and Implementation of AI in Companies in Valencia and Its Metropolitan Area, sponsored by the Business Confederation of the Valencian Community (CEV).

Artificial Intelligence in Latin American Higher Education

The report The Implementation of AI in Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean, prepared by UNESCO IESALC, offers a regional overview of how higher education institutions are incorporating artificial intelligence into their teaching, learning, research, administration, and community engagement activities. The study, based on information gathered from institutions in various countries across the region, analyzes patterns of AI adoption as well as the challenges associated with governance, institutional capacities, and the strategic integration of these technologies. The publication highlights that artificial intelligence is gaining prominence in university settings and raises the need to support this process with policies, strategies, and mechanisms that promote implementation consistent with academic and institutional goals.

An Assessment of AI in Colombian Institutions of Higher Education

From a national perspective, the study Overview of Artificial Intelligence in Colombian Higher Education: An Exploration of Uses and Needs in Higher Education Institutions compiles information, experiences, and analyses regarding the implementation of artificial intelligence in higher education institutions affiliated with ASCUN. The initiative is part of the ASCUN Artificial Intelligence Ecosystem, which aims to promote the exchange of knowledge and the responsible implementation of these technologies in the university setting. The report is presented as a tool for understanding the current state of AI adoption in Colombian higher education and for identifying opportunities for learning and collaboration among institutions, thereby contributing to a debate that is increasingly relevant to the future of education and digital transformation.

The Adoption of AI in the Valencian Business Community

The third publication added to the repository is the study titled Implementation of AI in Companies in Valencia and Its Metropolitan Area, sponsored by CEV Valencia and the Valencia City Council and prepared by the Polytechnic University of Valencia. The report analyzes the degree of adoption of artificial intelligence in the Valencian business environment and addresses issues related to its integration into organizations. In addition to providing an overview of the current use of these technologies, the study examines aspects such as organizational maturity, implementation processes, and the challenges companies face in integrating them into their business operations. The publication serves as a valuable source of information for understanding how artificial intelligence is influencing business transformation processes in the region.

Knowledge to Understand an Ongoing Transformation

The addition of these three reports reinforces the AI and Diversity Observatory’s mission to facilitate access to specialized resources that contribute to a broader and more informed understanding of artificial intelligence. Although they analyze different realities, the three publications all address a common phenomenon: the growing presence of AI in areas critical to social, educational, and economic development. Reading them provides insight into various approaches to the challenges and opportunities associated with this technological transformation, offering evidence and perspectives of interest to researchers, professionals, institutions, and the general public. Through the dissemination of studies, reports, and specialized publications, the Observatory continues to strengthen its role in analyzing and raising awareness about the impact of artificial intelligence, fostering an informed conversation about the changes these technologies are bringing about in our societies.
